UK MPs expenses published… 1p phone call claimed

It can’t have escaped many of you the big furore in UK about the “right honourable gentleman”  (and *cough* ladies) in the houses of parliament (what a joke that phrase has become) screwing the British public with expenses claims which at best are cheeky and at worst downright criminal. The Daily Telegraph has already revealed the uncensored ridiculous claims and now the censured official release from the government has been published complete with the blacked out bits. Essentially everything blacked out that could anyway be embarrassing. Put aside the floating duck island claims and the TV porn videos service… imagine going to your company accounts department and putting in a claim for any of the things below… with a straight face anyway…

  • MP Jeremy Hunt: 1p phone bill for a 12 second call (yes.. 1 pence not 1 pound!)
  • MP Dominic Grieve: 65p claimed under the title “Cheese Things” (huh?)
  • MP John Reid: £ 1.50 for an ice cube tray
  • MP (and millionaire) Shaun Woodward: £ 2.62 for a cup of tea
  • Minister Ben Bradshaw: £ 3.25 for Gay magazine “Attitude”
  • MP Lembit Opik (he who dated one of the ‘cheeky girls’) : £ 19.99 for a wig
  • MP Paul Murphy: £ 35 for a toilet roll holder

I’m glad I’m not paying UK taxes if that’s what they are getting spent on.

Today at the Bahnhof I spent in € 1 in Mc Clean for the use of their urinal (extortionate price for just a wee by the way) . I have decided to vote myself today into the UK parliament as the Right Honourable Gentleman and MP for Hanover, Alan Webb. I shall be submitting my claim under  the title of “Urination in the course of duty” to the commons fee committee forthwith.

The mind boggles.

A 1 pence claim for a 12 second phone call says it all really.
